Last week we were able to evaluate US foreign policy through the specific lens of particularly cases. Specifically, we attempted to link the events of 9/11 to the conflicts that followed and better understand their successes and failures. Given that most of you have been living in the post-9/11 world and have the gift of hindsight to inform your views of these conflicts, some of what we discussed might have been new to you. Please answer the following in a few brief sentences: 1. What (if any) of you perceptions changed or were highlighted by our case discussion of Iraq and/or Afghanistan? 2. What appears to be the most significant policy challenge decision-makers faced in those early years following 9/11?
